Inspired by the timeless Michael shoe, its originality lies in its sturdy shape, which creates a bold, masculine look. The Norwegian welt was traditionally used for mountaineering and work shoes; the origin of the name remains a mystery, but it has no connection with Norway. Either way, it’s a solid and flexible mounting technique that makes the shoe waterproof and re-soleable.
Paraboot is a 4th-generation business — it was founded in France by Rémy Richard. The name is a mashup of “Para” (the port they sourced their latex from) and the American “boot” that inspired Rémy early on.
